  • In the NO Podcast Episode 64: Part 1 and Part 2

Michael and I record a two-part podcast for your listening pleasure. In part 1, we talk the end of the season, lottery odds, Point-Counterpoint about Eric Gordon playing in the Olympics, and because we can’t stop ourselves, a little about the players in the draft. In part 2, we roleplay. Michael is Dell Demps, I […]

  • Hornets lose to Rockets and end trying season

The Hornets went flat in the fourth, relying on Lance Thomas, Al-Farouq Aminu and last minute heaves from Vasquez to provide their offense.  It went as well as you’d expect.  Hornets Lose.  Lottery balls safe.  Go root for Sacramento to win.

  • Season Finale Game On: Hornets @ Rockets

Less than a week ago, the Hornets beat the Rockets in OT to stick a fork in the Rocket’s Playoff hopes.  Will the Hornets do it again and scatter more ping-pong balls across the lottery landscape?

  • Game On: Tankapalooza (NOH v GSW)

If two tanking teams meet at the end of the regular season, is there a winner?

  • In the NO Podcast Episode 63: Charlotte, AFA and drafting a keeper

Michael and I talk about the week that was, reminisce about one of the worst basketball games they’ve ever seen, and then Michael brings up just how often players drafted by their own team get a second contract from that team. The answer will surprise you. I know I was. Enjoy the Podcast! Want it […]

  • Hornets fall to Clippers

Hornets are unable to hold on to an 11-point lead against the Clippers and fall in Los Angeles.  I have to agree with McNamara.  The Clippers are a team I’d love to like, but there’s too much unwarranted arrogance there.

  • Game On: Hornets at CP3

Three games left and all that’s left at stake are lottery balls and pride.  Which will weigh more tonight?

  • Hornets play spoiler, defeat Rockets, tie for 3rd worst record

The Hornets earn their 20th win of the season as they defeat the Rockets in overtime.  It was a damn good game, but the treads are off the tank now, and my stomach hurts a little.

  • Hornets fall to Grizzlies in Memphis

In the third, the Grizzlies turned up the pressure, and the Hornets wilted.

  • Game On: Hornets @ Grizzlies

Over the weekend, the Hornets managed to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies.  Can they do it again?

  • The Bobcats out-lose the Hornets

The two teams combined to shoot 32% from the floor.  In fact, according to Basketball-Reference.com, this game joins only 8 others where one team shot 34% or worse, and their opponent shot 30.3% or worse in the history of the NBA.  So – yeah, one of the worst shooting performances ever.   If you recorded the game […]

  • New Orleans to host the 2014 All-Star Game

ESPN.com is reporting that the NBA has awarded New Orleans the 2014 all-star game. The last time the Hornets did this, it was a monster success.  Not surprising, since New Orleans is, of course, a party town. Let the good times roll!  New Orleans Resurgent!

  • Game On: Hornets @ Bobcats

The Hornets travel to Charlotte to take on the sad-sack Bobcats.

  • In the NO Podcast Episode 62: What’s with all the Winning?

After taking a week off for Easter, Michael and I have the bizarre experience of reviewing a record of 5-2 for the team? Freakish – and alarming! We also talk Aminu’s improvement, Ayon’s regression, Gordon’s contract, Ariza’s benching, and Monty Williams calling Marco a Beast and “Everything he wants this team to be.” Wow. Yes, […]

  • A special message to those who said New Orleans couldn’t

For about eight years, New Orleans fans of the Hornets have had to endure a continuous commentary about the unsuitability of their city for an NBA team.  At times, it’s felt like 80% of sportswriters and commentators with a national audience have talked about the inevitability of the Hornets leaving the Bayou. We’re not going […]

  • Thoughts on Tanking and the Lottery

Ryan talks tanking and some ideas of how to stop it.  That’s in the future, of course, because right now we here at Hornets247 love the tank.

  • The Spurs dominate the Hornets

I’m not going to mouth platitudes to you like “That’s what a real championship contender looks like” because that isn’t.  The Spurs are a contender, but for this game they combined their ridiculous depth and talent with just one of those nights that happen to every team a few times each season. (Remember the Hornets […]

  • Game On: Hornets @ Spurs

The forgotten contenders host the Hornets tonight in San Antonio, trying to push their winning streak to 10 and keep the pressure on the Thunder for the top seed in the Western Conference.

  • In the NO Podcast Episode 61: The Unibrow Show

Okay, Michael and I don’t actually spend the entire show talking about Anthony Davis and his mystical unibrow, but we do have a really hard time not bringing him up as we talk about the current ceiling for the Hornets roster, me getting lambasted for the Giving everything and losing article, Eric Gordon’s return, the […]

  • Hornets get roasted by the Suns

From the moment the game started, you could tell the Hornets were flat, and things fell apart about 16 minutes in.  Five road games in seven nights will do that to you. Maybe I shouldn’t have brought up how few blowouts the Hornets have been subjected to earlier in the week.
