The Little Things

It seems to me that almost everyone agrees that the greatest area of need for the Hornets is among the bigs, yet far more bytes have been spent on talking about the `littles’ of late.

As a result of this seemingly paradoxical behavior, I’ve compiled a little data to generate some structured discussion of our littles.

The Data:

Minutes, Shots Made, Shots Attempted, Points Scored

Chosen to examine offensive efficiency and playing time

The Timeframe: The last 6 games

Hawks, Timberwolves, Lakers, Boston, Wizards, 76’ers

Chosen to be a manageable scope and give 3 games before and after Willie’s return

The Players:

Jarrett, Marco, Marcus, Quincy, Trevor, Willie

Chosen for the reasons mentioned in the spiel above

If you don’t like these choices, feel free to say so, but please say why, what you’d like better, and then present the better data.

I leave the interpretation for the community, as that is the point of this journal.

Without further adieu:

  1. Thanks for the post…cool stuff.

I guess Quincy knows how to take the right shot and only the right shot.

Wow, I knew Thornton was having a rough time, but that low percentage really shocked me.

    Thanks again…nice info to have!

    • Quincy’s line was definitely of interest to me. Marcus’s shot volume and scoring rate both surprised me. Trevor has favorable numbers in both categories. You know, Trevor Ariza, the guy we said needs to take less shots. We’re not wrong either.

I want to get Marcus minutes to help him grow, not to help the team now, unless he is just having one of those nights that make us love him.

  2. Great stats 42. It makes me love Quincy even more. I honestly want to see either Marcus or Green get traded for a big man so that Quincy gets more minutes. I REALLY like the guy. Think he’s gonna be a stud in this league. He doesn’t get a lot of minutes, but honestly, he SHOULD get more than MT5. I don’t care who says what. He’s a bigger, smarter, better player. He can play defense. And he’s going to be a better overall player in this league.

Trevors and Marco’s numbers actually aren’t that bad. Marcus is the only guy here who is seriously struggling. Odd man out?

    • I agree. I’d like to turn Thornton or Green into a decent big man. I’d hate to see either leave, but it’s even worse watching rebounds leave us and fall into the hands of opposing teams.
