Trew 2 the Game #1: Do You Know What it Means to Miss Nerlens

Look, it’s a new feature on your favorite New Orleans Pelicans website! It’s the name of a podcast and web show as well, yeah, but let’s focus on one thing at a time, alright? I’ll be in this very spot every Tuesday with some “Page 2” style action for you. Did someone say something bizarre on Twitter? Is that Lebron James Sprite machine in the CBD still getting restocked? Wait, what in the world was Robin Lopez posting on Instagram?! Got you covered right here. Ready? Let’s fly.

Twitter was blowing up after Stern said the words “Nerlens Noel” last week in Brooklyn. A horde of casual New Orleans basketball fans recognized the name and that was good enough for about fifteen minutes of puns and celebration. As soon as the jokes stopped being funny (soon) the Holiday information hit the timelines. The puns retreated to the corner where they belong. Rest in Peace, Nerlens N’awlins. May you not come back to haunt us in any way, shape or form.

Hey, we tried to be reasonable but Chris Paul ain’t coming back. He tweeted “I’M IN!!! #CLIPPERNATION” thus officially shutting the door on hopes and dreams. That door wasn’t very large and not very many people believed he could even get one foot inside of it, but that tweet tells us three things.

#1. He has re-signed with the Los Angeles Clippers
#2. He is rubbing it in our faces with the use of the old marketing slogan “I’m In”
(so therefore…)
#3. This is now a very real rivalry and I look forward to the Blake Griffin vs. Jason Smith street fight.

Let’s move on, shall we? Forever and ever. Starting with this man:

Fun Fact: Jrue Holiday is the first person born in the 1990’s to play in the NBA. Also, check out his pictures from Twitter. Dude really likes girl scout cookies. What are your favorite girl scout cookies? Which girl scout cookie do you think would make the best NBA player? Let me know in the comments. Best answer wins a prize in the column next week.

Odds these shirts will exist after Jrue Holiday makes the All-Star Team

Jrue Dat: 2/1
The Holiday Breese: 10/1
Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest and Jrue: My Favorite New Orleans Holidays: 25/1
What Jrue Gonna Do: 155/1
Do You Know What it Means to Miss Nerlens: 100,000/1

Odds there’s going to be a really amazing Bourbon Street Shots Party at this year’s All-Star Weekend
1/1

A good ole’ fashioned Caption This contest. Whatcha got BSS readers?

“Say Jrue, I left a bike chained up next to Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar, if you give me $50 u can have it. But you gotta break the chain.”

And Finally: Eric Gordon’s dad is on Twitter and his background image is of his son, Eric Gordon, in a (wait for it…) Los Angeles Clippers shirt! Father is so proud.
