((It is with both great pride and great humility that I present to you the incomparable, the inimitable, the indispensable, . . . Gerry V. – 42))

The Spurs beat the Heat in game #1 of the NBA FINALS… Here are a few items you can use during your dinner conversations as you explain why the Spurs won it 92-88.

  • First of all, if anyone tries to tell you that the Spurs are a boring, old and slow team, tag them with this fact… The Spurs were ranked #6 in the NBA this season with regard to PACE… That doesn’t sound like an old, slow or boring team to me… How about you?
  • Tony Parker 22 pts…10 of those in the killer 4th quarter… “0” turnovers for Parker in the game… ZERO!… Plus that bank shot that finished any hopes the Heat had is a Playoff Highlight… He became more aggressive vs the Miami defensive schemes…
  • Tim Duncan 21 pts and 10 rebs… one of the best players ever… (My 21 year work as an NBA Analyst has provided me with enough proof.)
  • Two very key offensive rebounds by Leonard and Duncan for 2nd chance pts were critical in the 4th for the Spurs.
  • Spurs just 4 turnovers for the entire game… The Heat love to run off turnovers and couldn’t in this game.
  • Dwayne Wade didn’t score in the 4th Qrt…
  • Miami scored just 16 pts in the 4th….Spurs won the Qrt 23-16.
  • Chris Bosh is 14/50 over the last 5 games for 28%…The Spurs dared him to score with his jumper… He failed.
  • Lebron James… just 4 FT attempts?…mama mia!
  • Lebron James 18 pts… 18 rebounds… 10 assists… Miami need more pts from him?… Yes.
  • The Spurs hurt the Heat with the 21-8 2nd chance pts margin.

Enjoy your dinner and NBA conversations.
