Game On: Pelicans @ Knicks

It’s a Noon Eastern game!  In the past, that has meant losing, losing, losing!  So . . . maybe this messed up team can kick the habit?  It’s possible, right?  It’s the Knicks!  Maybe.  At this point, I’m not going to bet on the team until one capable guard comes off the injury list.  Ish and Toney are making my soul sad.

Anthony Davis is playing!  Which will hopefully queue up some amazing Anthony v Anthony or Carmelo v Davis battles.  In the last matchup, these two took turns guarding each other down the stretch and it was fun to watch.  So how does the team get a win in the Big Apple?

Keys to the Game

  1. Finally win the board battle.  The Knicks don’t shoot well, but they are the 4th best offensive rebounding team in the league.  Rookie Porzingis is a fiend on the offensive glass, Kyle O’Quinn and Robin Lopez are sharp and Langston Galloway and Sasha Vujacic contribute well for guards.  If you can end their possessions after a single shot, that will help tremendously.
  2. Attack off the dribble.  Only one team fouls more often that New York.  Make them move and they will foul you. (I’d feel so much more comfortable saying this if we had one of those aforementioned injured guards.)
  3. Feel free to go under the screens.  Other than Galloway who is shooting way above his historical numbers, the Knicks have mostly below average shooters from deep.  Pack the paint a little against them.

Enjoy the game!
