Michael and I give our first game reviews of the season, blasting through what we’ve seen from the team. We spend time on Asik, Evans, Rivers, Anderson, and, of course Gordon. And we spend very little time on the unbelievably amazing Anthony Davis. I mean, what is there left to say? MVP?
Then we preview San Antonio and Cleveland’s upcoming games! Give it a listen!

just a little background
– Im a lifetime NYer and (knicks) basketball fan who visited new orleans over the summer and fell in love with the city. One day i was bored and i ran into one of these podcasts and ive been following them and the pelicans ever since. Ive watched every single game (via NBA league pass) and these are my thoughts:
1. Unibrow davis is great but lets stop with the MVP talks. Until this team improves to be a solid contender, then MVP talks cant be taken seriously. With that said, he has an improved jumper and asik allows his to slide to PF for more weakside blocks. Only complaint = chill with the fouls. Team NEEDS you
2. Holiday is a solid PG and i might have been in the minority who approved trading him for a draft pick (which turned out to be N. Noel). He does everything well (as if hes half asleep), however he doesnt do anything VERY VERY well.
3. Tyreke is a philly playground legend. and he still plays like it. He is your team’s version of our JR smith. Ultra-talented but im not sure if hes a winner. I’m happy his 3pt shot has improved which he would stop missing bunnys
4. Ryno is very underrated. hes not just a spot up shooter, hes physical and has some post moves
5. I read an article on here saying how Asik would be so great. please add the modifyer DEFENSIVELY! He alters shot, collects rebounds and allows unibrow to play off the ball. However he has ZERO OFFENSIVE game
6. E.Gordon is what is holding this team back. Im not saying that cuz hes been putting up donuts lately. hes a solid player and hell find his groove. Im saying that cuz hes STEALING money by making 15mill next yr. i hope for the franchise’s sake he opts out of that 17mill owed to him. This team needs a wing at the 3. Evans and Gordon occupy the same spot.
7. The bench is what will kill this team. Im sorry but Rivers, the Jimmer, Ajinca, Babbitt and Salmons are horrible. I mean these are not NBA players. Yes Rivers has improved from horrible to mediocre but not a good NBA player. (Hes a classic case of a kid who shouldve stayed in school. BY the time he figures the game out he wouldve graduated college. Now the lottery team that drafted him cant benefit cuz hel leave)
from an outside observer perspective = this team cant be taken seriously until it upgrades the 3 position and the bench. The frontline and overall talent is good enough to win 40-42 games but thats about it
callmened Thanks for taking the time to share your background and thoughts. For me,
1 – I don’t think Pels fans think MVP is realistic this year, but I personally would be shocked if he doesn’t win multiple MVP’s in his career.
2 – Agree, with maybe the exception being on-ball defense
3- agree
4- really agree
5 – Zero offensive game is an exaggeration. He has zero ability to create his own offense. But he can grab offensive boards, sets great screens, and can finish. That is SOME offensive game. A guy like Desagna Diop had ZERO offensive game
6 – I think everyone agrees with this
7 – Agree with the exception of Rivers. He isn’t horrible. Not anymore.

This the article?
Not sure thar addition needs to be made, or that subtraction.
As far as advancing quickly, Jimmer pushes the pace fine on breaks. He can gets ball pressure immediately (a screen from a big running down the court can solve that). because of his shooting ability. But his combine measurements suggests he’s plenty fast in a 3/4 sprint. He doesn’t have an elite first step, but he’s not slow.
Expect Evans jumpshot to revert to his mean. He started off two seasons “hot” in sacramento, making 50 percent of his 3 pt shots, but by the end of the season he shot 30 percent. It won’t last. …:-)
