Video: Looking Back on the Hornets Rollercoaster Ride

Andrew and I talked to Hornets fans about the past and what they will remember most about the ride.

My wording wasn’t the best for the intro. No worries though– I’ll get better, hopefully in time for Olympic trials and Summer League.

  1. Most memorable moment in the last 5 years: November 5, 2010. Heat – 93, Hornets – 96. I’ve been to a lot of games at the Hive, but the energy level that night was amazing.

  2. Worst moment: the night it was announced Garry Chouest was bowing out and not buying the team due to Shinn’s debt situation. I put it at 95% the Hornets would be gone.

Three best moments: Beating the Clippers at home this past year; Commissioner Stern announcing Mr. Benson as the new owner; last nights three draft picks.

    Can’t wait until October

  3. Worst moment, easily: the playoff blowout to the Nuggets at home. Everyone wondered why our ticket sales were weak despite having All-Star talent, but I feel that game has had a lot to do with it. Multiple people that had season tickets in my section didn’t return the next year. I’ve never seen a team quit like that, especially not in the playoffs.

Best part: the entire past year. Even though we got killed in win/loss record, the entire season had so many epic storylines that I really became obsessed with the Hornets. Additionally, the players and the coach/GM are all really likeable characters. You couldn’t have scripted a more engrossing season, from the CP3 trade, to the ownership, to the TV deal, to the lottery. . . it’s been a real treat.

  4. I’m proud of our front office and coaching staff. Demps and Williams are righting a franchise that had so much wrong with it. I think their imprint is going to make New Orleans a destination for great players who love the game and not just a place for over inflated contracts of aging players. Mr. Benson buying the team; he loves Louisiana and all things New Orleans – so this is pride for him not just owning a team. Plus three first round picks. Looking forward to a packed Arena and the great Hornets fans.

  5. Michael Wilborn Says the Hornets will lose more than 50 games next season theres always someone on ESPN that have to piss on the Hornets parade

  6. Best moment of Hornets – Coming to Oklahoma City – I have been a basketball fan ever since. Knowing Ron Hitley & Ryan Schwan – those guys are crazy and good in the same sentence. Thing are looking up for the team!

Worst Moment of Hornets – leaving Oklahoma City. Trading Chris Paul and David West.
Interesting comment made last year by Byron Scott when he was here last year with Cleveland – When I was here with The Hornets we really didn’t want to leave. When George Shinn was interviewed this playoff season he had many kind things to say about OKC.
    Life goes on Go Hornets!
