Solomon Jones is a Goner

Solomon Jones, despite playing fairly well in his limited time as a Hornet, won’t be brought back by the team following the expiration of his 10-day contract earlier today.

I’m personally a bit surprised by the news, since Solomon really played well in limited time. He averaged 3.2 points and 2.8 boards in 14 minutes a game for the Bees, and nearly had a double-double against Indiana. He finished that night with 12 points on 6 shots, 9 boards, and 2 assists in only 24 minutes. He also can hit a jump shot, and I’m going to keep saying that until everyone who possibly heard me say otherwise knows it.

Best of luck to Solomon going forward.

  1. Had 9 players dress last night….subtract one and that makes 8 now. My crystal ball says someone is coming back in the lineup from injury tomorrow (Okafor, Smith, Landry, Ayon). If I had to guess I’d say it’s Landry to audition for his new team before we trade him next week.

But yeah sorry to see Jones get cut. I bet its only because we already gave Lance Thomas a contract for the rest of the year, and don’t have room for both he and Jones once everyone comes back. But I’d prefer Jones over Thomas if I was Monty or Dell. O well…

  2. Jones is better than Thomas but he’s also 7 years older. NOLA is trying to find young rotation players.

    • You meant 4 years older, but still that is a valid point you make. I had no idea there was an age difference until I just looked it up thanks to you.

  3. My guess is that we already have some trades on the table and will need the roster spot to make it happen. Players can come back, but this is not to dress 10 players, it is to make room for a posible trade.
