Hornets Agree to Terms With Jason Smith

The New Orleans Hornets have agreed to terms with Jason Smith on a 3-year, 7.5 million dollar dollar contract. Smith spent all of last season with the Hornets, playing 14.3 minutes per game while averaging 4.3 points on 44 percent shooting to go with 3.2 rebounds. He’s expected to see time backing up Carl Landry at power forward and perhaps Okafor and Kaman at center if need be.

  1. I really like our team. Good frontcourt rotation and good very young wing rotation. Only thing we gotta do is solidify our point guard spot, but that would mean dealing someone valuable unless we can bid for arenas or baron davis or something.

  2. WOOOOOOOO! 5th forward minutes. 2 minutes a game Smith. Maybe we’ll get to see that sweet mid-range jumper of his once a game!

  3. When I saw the headling I thought “as long as it’s not a 3 year contract”… But for $7.5 mill I don’t have a problem with it.
I think he’s got potential to get at least a little better. Hopefully continuing with the same coaches and trainers will do the trick.

  4. I like the re-signing but I would use him as a backup center, his jumper is not consistent because he fell off major last season. If only Dell can see if Houston would take Okafor for Scola and maybe J.Flynn as a backup PG. I tried this trade on espn.com trade machine and it worked.

  5. Great but what we still need a starting PG who is a pure PG that can run half court offense and run the break, and has the ability to pressure the ball on defense. Think Collison, Bledsoe, etc.

How do we get him? Trade our 1st Round 2012 Draft Pick?

  6. Good sign, a big man to add to the rotation and he knows the system from last year(key for playing time and short season) We have a nice front court that really mite get us to playoffs if we get good team play.

    PF Landry 6’9″ 250/Okafor 6’10” 255
    C Kaman 7’0″ 255/ Smith 7’0 245

If the Hornets keep this roster and add a decent PG Nate Robinson or Carlosw Arroylo and add a vet like Michael Redd
They will have a shot for playoffs.
