In the NO Podcast Episode 30: Chris Paul will eat your Soul

Michael and Ryan dissect the Hornets win over the Lakers in Los Angeles. They are probably smug, insufferable, and you really want to listen and feel good about your team.

Woooooo!

  1. First playoff opener loss for Coach Zen. Thank you Monty.
it looks like the Grizz gave Z Bo a 71m x 4y contract.. Guys what do you think about going after Marc Gasol? I don’t think the Grizz can sign him back

    • I like Gasol, but I dont think the Grizz would have given Z-Bo 70 mil if they werent sure they could keep Gasol too.

  2. Grizz will match anything we can give to Gasol, so he is not a possibility IMO.

Can’t believe the Grizz gave ZBo that contract. It is a horrible contract for so many reasons, just as they were starting to build something legit. That team will be tied into that roster now with very few trade pieces and not much potential for growth. Plus, you NEVER want to give ZBo security. Oh well.

    • Wow the Grizz pay another guy way too much. Great point re security Michael, will be interesting to see if he goes downhill after securing a fat contract and if so how much

  3. Man, you guys are real worry worts/doubters. You clearly are unable to recognize a team that’s IN THE ZONE. Can we play like that the entire series? Not likely. But after seeing Paul drive and score 2 or three times and Aaron Gray drain a baseline jumper like IT WAS NOTHING, there was no doubt in my mind that we had the Lakers’ number.
Fortunately, I placed my bet in Vegas for a series sweep. And yes, that’s the HORNETS SWEEPING THE LAKERS. The bet is still alive.

    • And also, the watch party went CRAZY when Gray won the tip. And the Ariza/Bryant loose ball scramble. And about a hundred other moments.

  4. I have a question for thr Lakers guys:

From the point of view of a title contender, the Lakers’ record has been garbage for the last few weeks, and the play even worse (defensive collapse in Sacramento with an eventual win should be humbling at best). Why? Rest? Weary bones? Aiming for the Hornets (looks like it)? Has there been a locker room issue?

And justify the foul called on Ariza.

Off the questions: we were totally talking Curb Your Enthusiasm at the half.

For the folks out there: Joe has some video for you guys, FOR THE WORLD! really, of the party that’ll show how great the fans really are. I can’t wait.

    • The watch party was a blast. It was a lot of fun enjoying that game with a bunch of great Hornets fans. I can’t wait to do it again Wednesday night.

    • Oh man you guys gotta post that video. I’m sure it’ll be like those videos of FQ bars during and after Porter’s PickSix in the SB.

It’s the way the Hornets won, no? Not one of those upsets where the underdog sticks around and then pulls something out their you know what last second (kind of like the Grizzlies yesterday, actually). It was a different kind of upset where the underdog controls the energy and flow of the game from the start and quashes multiple rallies. Kobe will be juiced Wednesday, but that’s ok he’ always juiced (he had a very good game yesterday). Let him score his 40. Just sayin’.

      • You got it. We we leading for most of the game, building cushion (with the bench largely), playing defensively, and keeping them a couple possessions away all day.

        We handled the foul trouble.

        We handled the calls.

We had a good game and got monkey off our backs. Now we just need to split a 6 game series where we have home court.

        Step, step, step…

  5. Because of one of the brothers saying he didn’t believe we deserve to to beat the lakers. ask him what do he think now? that a great podcast.

  6. Jarrett Jack’s role in this series is only gonna get bigger. You better believe CP3 is going to see enormous amounts of double teams in the remaining games. The only player I see on our team that can crack the defense when they double team would be Jarrett. Also, can’t hesitate on those open jumpers. They’re coming now. Catch and shoot.

Great game. Here’s to Gray’s health. The hardest part for him is going to be the endurance of that ankle running up and down the floor. There is also one thing people aren’t really talking about. Gray got his minutes because Okafor was in major foul trouble. The best thing for Gray in game 2 is for Okafor to not rack up fouls at an amazing pace.

Jarrett. You the man. Hope you’re ready.

    • Not hesitating on jumpers was directed to the Ariza’s/Beli’s/Smith’s/Green’s of the world btw. Not Jack. Jack was stone cold assassin yesterday.

    • Piggybacking on the double-team thing, it’ll be interesting to see how physical the refs allow Fisher and whatever other perimeter defenders the Lakers throw at Paul to be. Will they call it straight or will it turn into another Dahntay Jones deal and they chalk it up to “playoff defense”.

And what are the odds that Joey Crawford is assigned by the league to ref game two in L.A.? I say between 60% and 80%.

  7. Yea, I said before that I’m afraid they are going to “Nuggetize” CP3 (in other words beat the crap out of him) as the refs stand and watch. But I also think Chris learned something in that Denver series, and he may have a few tricks up his sleeve-his shooting sleeve.
Also, great podcast. I look forward to them every week. Why don’t you make the next one 2 hours? That would take me a quarter of the way through my work day.
