4 Team Mega-Deal

Its trade season in the NBA, and almost every franchise is rumored to be involved in some sort of trade. The Hornets are not one of those teams, as they have already made the trades they wanted to make this year. Of course none of these were spectacular, make the team better type trades, but necessary cutting cost trades. While there does not seem to be any deals out there for the Hornets to complete, that does not stop one from dreaming up some…

It is with that idea that I present this deal, http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yjl56f2

This deal involves the Hornets, Kings, Bulls, and Lakers. It is not exactly what one might call a home run for all teams involved, but like I said, this is a dream, right? Anyway here is how it goes.

Hornets get Kevin Martin, Sean May, Andrew Bynum, and Tyrus Thomas.

Lakers get Kirk Hinrich and Joakim Noah.

Bulls get Jason Thompson, Kenny Thomas’s expiring and David West.

Kings get Emeka Okafor, Julian Wright, Adam Morrison’s expiring and Taj Gibson as well as Hornets 2011 first rounder.

This would give obvious benefits to the Hornets, with a center who can score on the block, rebound and defend, and also a top notch scorer who could thrive running of screens and then being set up by Chris Paul and Darren Collison.

The Lakers would get arguably the 2nd best defensive center in the NBA who alson does not need offensive touches, and a legit pg which shores up their worst starting position.

The Bulls would get back a young big with potential and a capable low post scorer with a great contract in D West as well as cut some dollars for this summer when Thomas’s contract expires. If they were able to move John Salmons in another deal (say to Boston for expirings), they could be a small player in free agency as well.

Now for the Kings, this is really not something it seems they would be interested in. They do get a defensive minded center who rebounds and clear a small amount of money. They also get two young players who have shown flashes to go with their stable of young players and a first round pick which always has value.
