Hornets stayed in it in the first quarter but was outscored in the second quarter and fell behind big in the second quarter to lose in LA, 110 – 99. The Lakers showed why they are the defending champs tonight.

Game 18: Hornets 99 @ Lakers 110

–If the Hornets could not defeat the Lakers without Gasol and Bynum in the first matchup back in November, there really was no way we could keep up with them tonight with Gasol and Bynum back for LAL and Paul and Peja out for NOH.

–Hornets kept up in the first quarter down by only 4, but outscored 31-15 in the second quarter and the Hornets really never caught up.

–Emeka had 17 points and 12 boards and Collison had 20 points on 7-14 FG and 5 assists. Really no other help from the starters…Devin had 6, Posey had 7, and West had 8 points.

–4 starters in double figures for LAL…only held Kobe to 18

–Songalia had 12 points and Bobby Brown had 10 off the bench for New Orleans but it was mainly in garbage time as the game was pretty much over late in the third

–Hornets fall to 7-11 but have an easy schedule coming up…vs Min, vs Sac, @ Min, and vs NY…Paul could be back in a rumored timetable of 10 days but it would be safe to hold him out until he is fully healthy…
