My League Pass almost always shows the broadcast for the team opposite the Hornets, so I’m going to make note of some of my favorite bits from the announcers here. (Note: All my journals will be late as I’m almost always watching the game the following morning. I perform live comedy most nights in Austin, Tx – if you’re in the area, let me know)
It’s been hard to keep up with this journal lately – I’ve been traveling and worse, my League Pass has been showing the Hornets broadcast. Last night I was “rewarded” with the Philadelphia broadcasters who were really “fun” to “listen” to.
The game started with the boys hyping up Andre Miller vs. Chris Paul. Made it sound like the rest of the league was going to be talking about this matchup, like it was Magic v. Bird, Rambis v. Bowen. Wrong. They followed this up with “Mike James could definitely be helping the Hornets right about now.” I’m not sure if these guys know anything about basketball. They are also very slow to react and when they react, they react very quietly.
To their credit, though, this was the only broadcast team that clearly admitted when they were wrong. Chris Paul hit a three pointer shortly after they discussed how he wasn’t a three point threat and they took it back, giving respect in the process.
(plug alert: I’m going on tour and have a show at the La Nuit Theater in New Orleans on Friday February 13th, 8:30pm! Come!)
