Game On: Jazz at Hornets

The 1-0 Utah Jazz come to town to try to keep the Gordonless Hornets winless.

The 0-1 New Orleans Hornets got some definition to their indefinite absence of guard Eric Gordon: 4-6 weeks. So, the team that plays tonight will be much as Hornets fans saw in Wednesday loss to the Spurs. No fear of Anthony Davis missing time. Jim Eichenhofer pass along the following from Monty about the rookie: “He’s a pain on the bench when he wants to get back in the game. I’m like, ‘Dude, sit down!’ You love that about him.”

Nice.

Per Grayson’s scouting report, the Jazz front court could match or better that of the Hornets. The backcourts don’t even compare.

This may not be nice.

To win this game, the Hornets will need to be clicking like they were in their emotional opener. There’s no Tim Duncan in the frontcourt, so the Hornets have to best that of the Jazz, without question. This is because they will get eaten up in the backcourt. The balance has to be made up by the bigs.

The Hornets may get a boost from Al-Farouq Aminu if they can manage to run. That’s a big if, but it happened enough Monday to keep the Hornets in the game, and leading for significant portions.

Lastly, as always, the team has to limit turnovers. They are the lesser team. They can’t give the better team extra possessions at the expense of their own.
