Is Gustavo Ayon going to be an impact player for the Hornets?
This 6’9 or 6’10 Mexican superstar could be an economic impact to the large latino community thats has grew in post katrina NOLA.The arena should be more of an hot ticket to see a latin superstar like Ayon besides Eric Gordon for us americans. As impact player to soon to tell from the youtube videos he seems NBA ready tough,a rebounder and a blocker. He’ll get garbage time early in the season just to get his NBA feet wet but mid season towards the end he could be a steal.Dell Demps done alot or scouting and research or Ayon and we can see why they’re signing a talent a half of dozen teams wanted maybe within a few years Ayon could be the next Pau Gasol. In due time we’ll see if he’s worth signing price.

looks like a deal! source: hoopshype.com Emiliano Carchia: Buyout for Ayon with Fuenlabrada is $1.5M: Hornets will pay $525.000. Ayon will pay by his own the difference about 11 minutes ago Read more: http://hoopshype.com/twitter/media.html#ixzz1hAmmGOYY
Has he signed with the hornets or are we just assuming that he will sign with the hornets? I ask this because I have heard little to no information about this man.
Ayon is 6'9'' 245lbs. I dont know much about this guy as to the things that dont show up on paper, such as hustle, athleticism, agility, etc. Soo I was just wondering if he would play more power forward or center? He might have been able to get by in the spanish league playing center, but there hasn't been many successful 6'9'' centers in the nba.
Sometimes if you pay for less you get quality on the court.Theses guys will be worth more in a few years giving Ayon $5 million for 3 years is enough if by year 2 or 3 of his contract and he have some decent numbers in points and rebounds he'll be worth a heck of alot more than his present contract
If pointing out big samples and solid facts to back my point, then chase my own tail I do.
I only brought the discussion where you took it. I gave facts. You tried to dispute my facts. So I gave more to prove my points. Don't tell me I lost focus. I simply gave content behind my comments. You didn't agree(completely) so you brought the conversation astray. I merely followed with facts because your comments were mildly attacking my intelligence and research.
I never said he didn't declare. I simply implied that no team thought he was worth drafting. But thanks for making my point again ;)... I know how the process works. Teams draft international players with the most talent or potential. Usually they "stash" them overseas to let them develop even further before bringing them over at a later date. Sometimes, they never get brought over because they don't blossom or for their personal reasons wanting to stay... You know, when you do research... It might benefit your argument to leave some key info out... But you look bad when someone, like myself who knows a good deal, and puts the facts out there... My suggestion is that you be more objective and look at things from a broader point rather than only "facts" that back you up.
I actually agree on this topic Yi came in overhyped, and he is not worth being on our roster... Personally I prefer the less heralded Jason Smith as our jump shooting 7footer... The guy hustles...
Here is a decent list of foreign players making the jump... Most names of any note were drafted as I said... http://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_foreign_NBA_players&mobileaction=view_normal_site
Also, good research does an argument well... Scola and sabonis were both drafted... But thanks for making my point ;)
Walter Herrmann, Fabricio Oberto, Juan Sanchez, Ruben Wolkowyski, mark bradtke, andrew gaze, shane heal, luke schenscer.... The list goes on and on and on and on... I'm not rooting against the guy but I'm being realistic about my expectations for the guy
Ok, now go look up the ones who were busts... I'm sure the number outweighs the number who were actual contributors
Not saying they are garbage "my dude" just saying they are far less talented than the NBA... And I'm also not saying he won't succeed...I'm merely saying the odds are against him and that he will have to show me something on this level before I start proclaiming him a contributor...call me a realist
We may not lack size but what about Height. Even if they go with Ayon I still think they should bring in another Forenier like Yi Jianlian, throw in Travis Outlaw, and try and make more Potential players w/ less money by trading Okafor or/and Kaman by the trade deadline for younger Center/players like Jrue Holiday, D.J. Augustin, Darren Collison, Roy Hibbert, Louis Williams, and Javale McGee!!! we can still build off of that until the new Drafted players get here!! Hopefully we get a lot of player for cheap w/ high Potential in multiple talents!!!! Let the New Orleans Season begin!!!!
Most solid players make the jump or are atleast noticed/drafted at an early age... The fact that he is 26 means he isn't likely to make major strides in his game at this point as he should already be in his prime... ACB league may not be a scrub league in Europe, but I don't think people realize the epic drop in competition compared to the NBA.. The NBA isn't just the best league.... No other league even comes close... Far and away the best... Many people think it's only a minor drop off... It's pretty steep..
Keep in mind, alot of his videos are against very sub-par talent... Many of them are also of him in college... And I wasn't all that impressed. He looks quick because everyone else around him was slower than your avg NBAer... I hope he comes here and shows he can bring it at a higher level
