Seriously, what's wrong with J.R. Smith glaring at the opponent's bench after he puts a 'dagger-in-there-heart'? To the guy who criticized J.R for that ... come on man. Is that it? That's the reason why you'd prefer him not to be on this team. Even after admitting he would be a definite talent upgrade. I think more-and-more as I hear and read Mike Mac's comments I grow to appreciate his basketball logic. As I listened, he made the best point about J.R. Smith's 'character' VS his 'personality', and even went a step further to give the Terrell Owens comparison of both players having different personalities; however, as Mac pointed out, neither has CHARACTER ISSUES. They just express their personalities differently than others. Furthermore, in the right setting both players can manage their personalities ... alaa Stephen Jackson with Popovich. I live in Minnesota, and Kevin McHale made judgements like that for years. This is the reason why we finally had to say bye to Kevin Garnett after Kevin McHale didn't give him help (like Sam Cassell & Latrell Sprewell who both played in the Finals previously) and didn't trust the 'characters' of Allen Iverson when that deal was presented to Glenn Taylor and management; and before that it was Gary Payton. So, when McHale brought in Ricky Davis you can understand why most T-wolves fans just accepted the fact that Kevin McHale is just a 'bad judge of character'. That's it, bring in the guy with bad character who doesn't care to win, and refuse to trade for talented players who have different personalities, but character wise THEY WANT TO WIN! J.R. Smith plays with passion and wants to win, but has played in organizations that didn't have real leadership or stability like the Spurs. We often criticize him based on his relationship with Byron Scott. Okay, so he didn't like Scott, but neither did Jason Kidd and others. Even Kidd went through a rebellious stage after He, Scott, and the Nets went to two Finals. Once they clashed, Kidd was labeled as rebellious and player trying to get a coach fired. Kidd was traded eventually after Scott was fired. Now look at Kidd ... would anyone say he has a bad character or just a different personality? He is a winner last time I checked. The Hornets actually need some attitude on this team in order to compete with the Lakers and Spurs. Players who actually show they 'give-a-damn'. One comment that was made by the same person was in regards to the emotion Tyson Chandler would show for the Hornets when he played here. As you can see, even though Okafor is effective, he doesn't show that same intensity that Chandler would show for us. Who else gets fired up on this team other than Paul and West or shows some emotion? We need a J.R. Smith / Stephen Jackson type of player on this team. Not just for talent, but also because they will go at Kobe Bryant repeatedly, without fear, and glare at him ... and the bench! L_REAZY
Also, I agree with Mike Mac again when I say .... ... HELL NO to Troy Murphy .... EVER on this team!!! He's softer than drug store cotton! We might as well keep Jason Smith. One of the worst SF / PF tandems ever was Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy ... perhaps the softest ever!!! L_REAZY
