The Mavericks beat the Hornets

Not much unexpected about the Hornets 20th consecutive loss to the Mavs last night, and so I'm not gonna spend much time talking about it. Linkage is here: box | recap | video | photos.

Big D in the big D

One thing that bothered me about the game — aside from the losing; I'm becoming immune to that — was the rotation. If you check the boxscore, you'll see that Byron Scott pretty much played just seven guys, allowing Hilton Armstrong and Brandon Bass about three minutes of garbage time right at the death.

Byron, you're down 21 points going into the fourth quarter. You're playing a team you haven't beaten once this millennium. You're on the road, on the second night of a back-to-back. 168% of your team is injured. Your best offensive weapon on the night is Marc Jackson.

Play the fucking kids, dude.

What have you got to lose? The game? Sure, but you're going to lose that anyway. Who cares if it's by 15 or by 40? A loss is a loss, but you can get something out of it by playing the young guys, let them get some shots up. Jason Terry led the Mavs last night with 33 minutes. Five Hornets played at least that many. I don't get it.

Anyway, tomorrow begins 2007, which means I will have very little blood in my alcohol system for the next 24 hours. What say we take tomorrow off and meet back here on Tuesday in time to preview Hornets-Warriors?

I like the way you think. Catch you on the other side.
