After Party

Last night we here at Hornets247 hosted our first ever Hornets watch party, which may or may not have been the best party in the history of mankind. It all went down at Handsome Willy’s Bar and Lounge in the heart of New Orleans. The good folks there went all out with a massive screen and projector to watch the game on, free and downright delicious barbecue, and lots of drinks specials. We had almost 60 people show up to watch the Hornets beat the Warriors.

Hornets247 season launch party at Handsome Willy'sLoads of people to thank for making the party happen and happen well. Justin, Brian and Russ from Handsome Willy’s are all legendary people living legendary lives. Thanks to DJ Toney Blare for suggesting the venue, helping me destroy Uptown with fliers yesterday, and for keeping the music flowing real good all night. Huge thanks to fellow creole-blue blogs Hometown Hornets and Hornets Hype for helping spread the word and joining us on the night. Ditto to Matt McIntosh of Storm Surge Photography for doing the photography thing for us. And thanks to everyone else who dropped by. We hope to do several more watch parties during the season, each one bigger and more badass than the last.

The prizes and the free stuff

We ended up having three prizes for our main contest last night. We asked everyone at the party to predict how many points, rebounds and assists the four P’s (Paul, Peja, Posey and Peterson) would combine for against Golden State. When the dust settled, 84 was the winning number.

First prize of a $100 voucher for the Hornets Nest store goes to David Gladow, who guessed 84 on the nose. Second prize of a $100 bar tab for Handsome Willy’s (kindly donated at the last minute) goes to Kathy Carneiro. Third prize of $50 Hornets cufflinks (courtesy of the good people at cufflinks.com) goes to Anonymous O’Rafferty*.

We also gave away a bunch of Peja and Tyson caricature t-shirts, a few boobleheads and Peja’s on sticks, because we’re nice like that.

Photos

I put together a party photo album on Facebook. You don’t even need a Facebook account to view it. Thanks again to Matt for hooking us up.

Update: More party photos on NOLA.com, thanks to David Gladow.
