In a lot of respects the Boston loss (and its aftermath) crystalized just how bad this team has been over the course of the season for many fans. So Michael and I talk fallout – trades, what we want this team to do, what we think they will do, what is a decent outcome if trades do start happening.
We also talk about how some of these players fit or don’t fit in Gentry’s system. Then – upcoming games and Mike makes me define Rap terms. Yay!

One response to “In the NO Podcast Ep. 237: Is it time for the Tank?”
Hi Michael and Ryan,
I enjoyed this podcast. Took some notes while listening. I would have sent you guys tweets for quicker interaction but I decided to write here … a bit… so bare with me. ๐
– Boston loss was very depressing. Last time that I wanted to leave a game before it ended was the 50+ point loss to Denver Nuggets in the playoffs…
– Michael mentioned several times that Asik headed strait to the locker room after the Wizards win. Believe me Asik does that every night! So, it is not something new. That’s why I do not think that it could be related to unhappiness due to being benched. I think He should be very happy with his new contract. No reason to be disgruntled… ๐
– What happened to “Durant to NOLA!” Is it not possible anymore due to salary cap limitations?
– We talk about tanking and how our next star may join us thru draft but as I read briefly from the web, 2016 draft class is not a strong class and it is compared to the weak 2013 class. So, what other star players are out there? What if the only star is Ben Simmons and we miss the top pick?ย
– Do you think the “Chicago” tattoo of Anthony Davis might have jinxed the Pelicans? ๐
– You mentioned missed FT’s by AD at Chicago loss. What do you think has happened to Anthony Davis’ Free Throws? He went from “better than Curry” (in 2015 playoffs) to an average (73%) FT shooter… His decline in FT% may also be an indicator of his reduced efficiency from mid-range jumpers. I think He was a much better mid-range shooter last season. Too much 3PT practice over the summer??? ๐
– Don’t you think we should try to build a winning culture here? Otherwise as you mentioned we will end up like the Sacramento Kings, who by the way had a top10 pick in the last 7 drafts. So, draft is no guarantee for improvement and I don’t understand why we put so much hope on it… It is very sad that we gave up in only 20 games and started discussing how to change the roster, how to tank and get a star player next to AD from draft, etc… Well, this same roster won 45 games last season. So, it is interesting that we lose so easily and so many games this season no matter if we were injured or not. We were injured last season too.ย
– A lot of discussion revolves around how these players do not fit into the Gentry system and we should make changes accordingly. Well,ย Maybe we should not have bet too much scrilla on our woadie… ๐ We’ll see…
Cheers guys….
