The Hornets returned to the Staples Center again tonight to face the other LA team, the Clippers. And the Hornets did everything they could to erase that bad loss to the Lakers last night and they did just that for the most part as the Hornets win in LA to improve to 3-5.

Game 8: Hornets 112 @ Clippers 84

–The Hornets started quick out of the gate early, making 7-9 from downtown in the first quarter with a couple of threes from Peja and Devin Brown.

–Devin Brown was very impressive tonight with 25 points, including 5-8 from downtown. In the two games he started, he’s averaged 17.5 points. If he can stay consistent, we may have found our starting SG for the rest of the season…

–Chris Paul showed why he is a smart basketball player and showed why he knows how to play the game well, finishing with 24 points (10-14 shooting), 5 boards, and 10 assists. Chris Paul did everything tonight, getting rebounds over Camby and Kaman, 3 steals, and coming back on the court after tweaking his ankle late in the second quarter.

–The rookies were inserted into the bench rotation early and each given around 17 minutes. Collison had 2 points and 2 assists and Thornton had 5 points but went 0-6 from downtown.

–Emeka didn’t have a good night overall (2 points and 6 boards) but the other 4 starters made up for him, with CP’s 24, Devin’s 25, Peja’s 12 (5-11 shooting), and West had 17 points and 9 boards.

–Bench production was better than last night: Posey had 7 points and 5 boards, Armstrong had 12 points and 6 boards. But most of their production came in the whole fourth quarter when the Hornets had a comfortable 20+ point lead.

–Rasual Butler had 14 points filling in for Eric Gordon who was out with a sore groin. I still wish he was our starting SG.

–Overall, the Hornets played with great chemistry tonight and looked the best they’ve played in 8 games. The rotation was great and hopefully we’ll see more of Collison and Thornton and less of Bobby Brown. Hopefully this continues and the Hornets go on a nice winning streak. Hornets face a tough test on Wednesday @ PHX @ 9:30 on ESPN.
