New Orleans Pelicans Hoping Against Cleveland Cavaliers

The New Orleans Pelicans host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at the Smoothie King Center. The game coverage starts at 8:30 pm CT (UTC -6), and it’s being broadcast on the Pelicans Radio Network (99.5 FM locally), Fox Sports New Orleans, and ESPN.

The Pelicans are starting Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans, Alonzo Gee, Anthony Davis, and Omer Asik. Gentry said he wants to try to stick to this lineup since it is one that is not affected by Jrue Holiday’s minute restrictions. This logic does not preclude more tinkering, but it goes to show that the team is still searching for some consistency, which is hard to find without tinkering and hard to find with tinkering. I’ll take it.

Kendrick Perkins and Quincy Pondexter are the only Pelicans that are Out continuously for the Pelicans.

We all know the issues with the team. If they can keep the offensive struggles in check, they can make this a game against the Cavaliers, but playing 48 minutes has been an issue. The Cavaliers may not be living up to the expectation of some and are still without Kyrie Irving, but they are superior to the Pelicans in many key areas, particularly rebounding.

If they Pelicans want to win, I’m thinking they’re going to need to even up the rebounding or make shots at a higher rate than they have been.

It’s a tall order.

Tonight, I’m just watching to see how they do in key aspects of the game, how they execute, and if they fall apart.

A win is a bonus here; just enjoy what you can.
