Davis put up a 19pt, 8reb, 3stl stat-line on 7/15 shooting, hitting 2/4 3’s, and Cousins put up 19pts, 5rebs, 5TO’s on 4/12 shooting before fouling out, and the Pels fell to the Kings 107 to 98 in Rupp Arena tonight. Both big men looked good tonight, but Boogie’s right hand man Rudy Gay put 20 and 10, and former New Orleans Hornet Darren Collison put up an efficient 19, 7, and 4 to help seal the win.

For the Pels, Anderson looks better every day, putting up 20 points on 50% shooting (2/6 from 3) tonight. Chris Douglas-Roberts got the start and looked good at first, scoring 9 in 8 minutes, but failed to score in his next 14. The whole team cooled off in the second half actually: 61 points in the 1st half to 37 in the 2nd. They started the 2nd half just 2/10 from the field.

Jrue Holiday looked great in his short 11 minutes, with 4 points, 4 assists, a steal, a block, and 2 rebounds. He was moving well, and assisted the Pels first 3 baskets, but also had 2 early turnovers, which were a problem all night as the Pels racked up 18 turnovers to the Kings’ 14.

The absence of Asik and Ajinca didn’t help, as the Kings amassed 58 points in the paint to 32 for the Pelicans, who couldn’t keep up their hot outside shooting from the first half. The Pels made just 8 of 26 3’s. If anyone was questioning what Asik brought to the team, this right here. I remember some game saving defense against Boogie last season.

Guard Sean Kilpatrick had another rough outing, going 2/10 and 1/7 from 3, while new additions Nate Robinson and Bo McCalebb looked OK in their Pelican debuts. They’ll need some more time to get acclimated. but next up for the Pels is a matchup against divisional foe Houston in Houston Monday night at 8ET.
