Gerry V on the New Orleans Pelicans 2013 Draft Night And Guards

Why the trade works… Lets get right to it…

  • Jrue Holiday provides the much needed quickness at the guard position
  • You can play him at the point or as a swing guard….his off the dribble game is also a skill the Pelicans need more of….he can get into the lane…
  • He averaged 18 pts per game and 8 assists
  • He will help create in the open floor… it will help your PACE (team was ranked #29 in possessions per game)…
  • He brings ball handling… scoring… can advance the ball and assist in “early offense” situations…
  • Better defender at the point guard spot
  • If Gordan is a Pelican you now have two players on the perimeter with jump shooting and “attack off the dribble skills”
  • He’s an All-Star
  • You need quick guards in the NBA
  • Plus, I always liked his game

Are the Pelicans done? No they are not…

The small forward or another longer swing is needed)… scoring must be enhanced…

I am also curious to see what happens with the front line…
