Game On: Clippers @ Hornets

The Hornets welcome their former favorite son to town tonight. These two teams have had a few interesting games between them the past two seasons, namely the Smith-Blake foul game and the three point contest which broke out earlier this season. Coming off a Nuggets-streak-busting win, where Brian Roberts played phenomenally (18 assists!) and the team shot 62% from deep, I have absolutely zero idea whats going to happen tonight.

I’m going to skip keys to the game and instead tell you what I’m watching for.

Lou Amundson’s Defense

Lou’s defense in his limited minutes has been superb. He knows when to help, rotates well and protects the rim strongly. I’m hoping he gets an extended run tonight and a contract for next season.

Another Wrinkle on Offense

Monty has been slowly putting in new offensive sets whether it’s the inverted offense, tons of off ball movement, and most recently on Monday tons of baseline cuts. If this trend continues I’m going to be excited.

Brian Roberts

I’m hoping for some consistency from Monday night. After his performance Monty will give him minutes tonight. The Hornets’ second unit is often lacking a leader and someone to take over when they are struggling for points. I’m starting to think Roberts can fill that role for next season.
