Game On: Bulls @ Hornets

The Hornets look for their 5th win in 6th games as the Chicago Bulls minus Derrick Rose come to town. But just because they are missing the former MVP don’t write the Bulls off. They are currently 8 games over .500 and playing tough basketball. Let’s jump right to it…

3 Things to Watch For

Crash the Defensive Glass

The Bulls are one of the best rebounding teams in the league but struggle with offensive efficiency and putting points on the board. Tonight the Hornets need to limit Chicago’s second chance points. That means crashing the boards. For the season the Bulls grab 30.4% of their own misses. That can’t happen tonight. Chicago plays with a slow pace so they need to make every possession count. If the Hornets limit Chicago’s offensive rebounds they’ll gain a huge advantage.

Take High Quality Shots

The Bulls rank second in opponent 3FG% at 46.7%. That’s incredibly good. If the Hornets want to have a chance at winning they need to take smart shots. That means in close to the basket and open 3’s. Jason Smith can still take his mid range jumper, but that’s it.

Davis Under the Hoop

Davis sat out the previous meeting against the Bulls with a concussion. Tonight he’s got his hands full with a very physical frontline. I’m curious to see how he reacts to the physicality. Does he stay aggressive? Or will he rely more on his midrange game? I hope it’s the former.
