The Hornets take on the Houston Rockets tonight at the New Orleans Arena.

IT’S OFFICIALLY A WEEK UNTIL THE REGULAR SEASON STARS!!! I’m excited (if you couldn’t tell). I’m also excited because I’ll be at the game tonight watching the Hornets for the first time this preseason. Come say hello if you happen by section 309.

It’s been a frustrating preseason for Hornets fans thus far due to the play on the court and the fact that most of the games have not been televised. But good news! The game tonight will be on NBATV. So if you get it that’s awesome! If you don’t, knock on your neighbors door and tell them it’s important, run in, jump on the couch, turn on NBATV and yell dibs. We live in a society, so they’ll have to abide by the call. Anyway, let’s do this…

3 Things to Watch For

The Charity Stripe

The Hornets were horrendous getting to the line against Dallas. That might be putting it nicely. Instead, let’s go with putrid. 14 total attempts; the Mavs had 30. That’s not going to cut it. The Hornets need to attack the bucket tonight and try and draw as much contact as possible.

Turnovers

19. Nineteen turnovers. In the Hornets slow paced offense every possession matters just a little bit more. If they want to win games during the regular season then the Hornets can’t gift the opposition extra possessions while having empty trips of their own.

Banging the Boards

The Hornets absolutely dominated the boards against Dallas. 62 total and 20 offensive rebounds. That kind of performance should usually lead to a blowout. Unfortunately the had trouble with the first two things to watch for. If the Hornets fix just one of these 3 issues from Monday night, they should play much better.

Lagniappe to Watch For

This pumpkin!

Yup, this is a thing

I carved it myself last night. It’s currently sitting on my front porch.

Enjoy the game and let us know what you’re looking for in the comments and on twitter @nolajake and @hornets247.
