Hornets Head into Training Camp 20th in ESPN’s Power Rankings

The New Orleans Hornets will enter camp ranked 20th in Marc Stein’s Preseason NBA Power Rankings.

Twentieth ain’t bad, right? I mean last season we were pretty awful and we still finished

  1. I think it’s good to start without to many expectations. Hornets got the #1 pick in a year where there was only one ‘for sure’ pick to be had, and you could easily say they should have moved up the power rankings because of that, along with other solid off season moves (Mr. Anderson in particular). But that is putting the cart before the horse, and the new team has to prove itself on the court. There needs to be a learning curve for the young players, and an adjustment process for the experienced players to gel with each other on court. There is also the issue of whether EC will play to his potential, or be a street clothes spectator on the bench for most of the season. When all this plays out, we’ll know where the Hornet belong in the pantheon of the NBA. Until then, reserved judgement is paramount.

  2. The sad thing is as of this week (going into week 4) the Saints are ranked 27th…so by that measure, the Hornets are currently the better team.

  3. Marc Stein sucks on the taint of Mark Cuban and Dirk and co. of Dallas so why should I be stunned at his biased reporting?
