Postgame Video: Hornets Summer League Head Coach James Borrego and Lance Thomas

After the loss to the Bucks I caught up with James Borrego, the head coach of the Hornets Summer League team, as well as Lance Thomas.

Lance has looked good in both games so far, and it’s clear that by adding weight and working on his jumper he’s on his way to becoming a more effective player. We catch up with him about how his Select Team experience has helped him so far.

Then we caught up with James Borrego to talk about Austin Rivers, Xavier Henry’s struggles so far during Summer League, and what he thinks about Lance so far.

Be sure to also read Ryan’s recap as a primer to both interviews.

  1. I saw James Borrego at a block party a couple months ago. He’s fluent in Spanish. He seems like a good coach and answered the questions well.

  2. As I have stated before I am not impressed with Lance “Steve Wonder” Thomas, just like Stevie, Lance can’t see open teammates under the basket. His court vision is dreadful. I would cut him some slack if he was a rookie, but since he was team captain while at Duke and they suppose to produce smart players you would think a high basketball IQ would be a given.Plus he has been in a NBA camp.

  3. Joe you still think these games are important – “Looking at the roster, and hearing what he said, I was offering even money last night to other bloggers that the Hornets would go undefeated during Summer League, even without Anthony Davis. While my BAC is a bit lower now, my confidence is still sky-high.”

    If so – What happened?
