Anthony Davis talked a bit at the Olympic Trials. It wasn’t as exciting as what Gordon said, but we’ll still fill you in on the details!

Here’s a little Q and A session with Anthony Davis. We’ll have a video up in a few hours.

This was really my first time in a non-scrum with Davis, so I’ll go in to a little detail about how he acts. First off, he doesn’t say anything more than he absolutely has to. He made a comment about how some guys like the media and some guys don’t, to which I responded, “What do you think?”.

His answer?

“I have no comments about that”

I laughed, thinking he was just being funny, but he didn’t even crack a smile.

That should tell you something about the big man from Kentucky. We’ll learn more in the coming days, and hopefully tomorrow we’ll find out that he’s a member of Team USA. Honestly, just watching when coach K talked about Davis, I feel worse about AD’s chances than I did heading into practice. Then again, I’m a rookie at in regard to Olympic stuff.

Here’s what coach K said about Davis– “Anthony Davis isn’t ready yet to really… did a little bit of 5 on 0, but he’s not near 100%.”

Here’s what Davis himself had to say–

What does it feel like to be around the stars?

“It feels great.”

On if he’ll make the team–

“I’m not sure, I’m not a coach. That’s coaches decision”

Did you participate in drills today?

“Yes”

Against who?

“Practicing 5 on 0, that’s it”

On his ankle percentage–

“65-70 percent”

Did it swell up pretty bad?

“Yeah, it did”

On how it happened–

“I just came down wrong. Freak accident. Sprained it. I’ll be fine.”

Disappointed?

“Yeah”

Rehab or sitting to fix the ankle?

“rehab”

Specifics?

“Icing, compression, elevation.”

Did the older guys put him in his place…. are they nice to him?

“Yeah, why not?”

On Kobe and if there was anything said or done about AD’s comments that he wanted to shut Kobe down–

“Nothing. No contact today.”

Any real ankle sprains before?

“Nope.”

No idea how you might physically react to this?

“Nope.”

On being the youngest guy–

“It means a lot. Out here playing with these guys getting experience, telling me what to do on the floor, where I should be, get used to the game. Hopefully I can learn a lot.”

Anything specific that he took from day one of playing with greats–

“A lot of hard work. These guys play hard and if you want to be successful in the league like all these guys are you gotta work”

Big difference in preparation in college vs Olympic Trials?

“Yeah, definitely. These guys do this for a living. That’s all they do. In college you have other things on your plate– school, tutors–you have other things. Here it’s all basketball so they have 24 hours to work on their game”

On if he’ll do some contact workouts in the next few days–

“It’s up to the trainers”

On what he knows about the original Dream Team–

“Not much”

Does he expect to take more from what stars  do on the court or off?

“Both. How they act off the court– they’re all icons. Guys look up to them so it’s not just on the court it’s on the court as well.”

On if watching how the stars deal with media/fans will help him handle stardom–

“Yeah, but guys handle it different ways. Some guys dont like the media, some do, so during that part I just have to be who I am.”

What do you think?

“I have no comments about that.”

If you don’t make the team what happens?

“I haven’t thought about that. I plan on making the team.”

Boom! Love it.
