The New Orleans Hornets take on the Washington Wizards in the second night of a back-to-back.

Update: Because of the trade deadline, some parts of the preview are a little out of date. But still, post you pre-game thoughts in the comments below.

We celebrate the Ides of March today with a battle between two of the worst three teams in the league. It’s also fitting that today is the trade deadline and we have your one stop rumor mill shop right here. With the trade chatter in the background, let’s preview the Wizards @ Hornets tonight. 1. Which matchup most favors the Wizards?

Jake Madison: Even though he’s a space cadet, I’m going with JaVale McGee at center. The Hornets struggled last night against Bynum and while McGee is not on that level, Ayon, Thomas and Foote are going to have another long night in store.

Mason Ginsberg: This answer is totally dependent on the impact on the trade deadline. There is a chance that both teams’ starting centers, McGee & Kaman, are dealt by 2 PM today. That being said, Kaman is the more likely of the two to be traded, and if only that happens, I’m going with McGee here purely based on raw talent (obviously not basketball IQ). Otherwise, the Jordan Crawford/Nick Young combo are both more talented than Belinelli, so he could have his work cut out for him.

2. Which matchup most favors the Hornets?

Jake: Vasquez off the bench will tough for the Wizards to guard. He played incredibly well last night shooting 6 for 7 and led the team in assists.

Mason: Ariza had a rough night last night both on offense and trying to contain Kobe, but look for him to bounce back in a big way tonight. This may come as a surprise to you guys, but Chris Singleton is no Kobe Bryant.

3. Care to make some predictions about the game?

Jake: The Hornets bounce back from a tough loss last night and take down the Wizards. I will also say there is no blown 4th quarter lead night.

Mason: An emotionally drained Hornets team struggles after last night’s heart-breaker in overtime against the Lakers. In another close one, the Hornets fall to the Wizards 98-94 in what could end up being a pivotal game for draft lottery implications.
