Joe Gerrity to Host “Hornets Report” On WGSO

Early last summer I decided that the Hornets needed another show exclusively about them. Right now, the only shows in New Orleans that focus entirely about the Hornets/NBA are affiliated in some way with the Hornets brand, either because they are broadcast on the Hornets TV station or because they are broadcast on the Hornets Radio station. That’s not going to be the case for much longer.

Starting the 7th of January at 1pm CT, I’ll be hosting an hour long, weekly radio show on WGSO (990 AM). It will be called “Hornets Report”. I’ll grab a range a guests from writers to local celebs, and of course some players and Hornets staff. We’ll take calls for a portion of each, so that if any of you have questions or have something insightful to say, you can. In fact, I really would appreciate it.

It will stream over the internet as well, so no worries if you’re not local. That was something I wanted to make sure of. A recording will be made as well, so it will available every week for a listen even if you can’t hear it live.

I’ve never really done radio before except as a guest on shows. Hope you’ll bear with me if the first episode or two is a bit rough. Might also just be a seamless transition from guest to host. Only one way to find out.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know. Hope you’re at least 1/100th as excited as I am. Also, if you have or work for a business that may be interested in sponsoring the show, email me at JoeKnowsSports@gmail.com and I’ll owe you a bottomless beer.

    • it will be at wgso.com, 990am new orleans. Won’t be on until January though.

Also, expect to hear a good bit from Michael and Ryan. Their successful podcast is the inspiration for this.

  1. Congrats Joe. I know you will do great at this. Make sure you stand strong and ask the tough questions when needed. Congrats again.

  2. Awesome to hear this Joe. I know you’ll do fantastic at it. I’ve done some college radio stuff over the last 5 years and the more times you do it, the easier it’ll be. Also, expect some Hornets related calls from the 631 area code.

    Long Island, NY that is.

Can’t wait for the season to start already. I’m very excited.
