update- As Jon said in the comments, Brian is going to be out 4-6 weeks. I confirmed that with his agent. Fortunately the injury is much less serious than initially thought. I’ll speak with Monty about what that means in regard to his future as a Hornet on Saturday.

Brian Butch, who was expected to provide the Hornets with a big man who could rebound and hit jumpers to stretch the floor, left the floor of training camp today on crutches after participating in a scrimmage. He was wearing a brace on his left knee.
This is very disappointing news. Butch was brought into camp prior to the rest of the krewe, and had been spoken about highly by Monty, Ariza, and Q-Pon on different occasions. I watched him shoot in camp on a number of occasions and came away impressed each time.
No word yet on the damage. We’ll keep you updated, but until then hope for the best.

You reported left knee on hornets247 but right on hornets report. Do you know which one? since he had surgery on his left knee last year.
Very sorry about that. I’m about 95% sure it was his left knee. Brain fart. tried to undo it. guess I missed a few. Sorry.
No problem.. thanks for the update
Plus he’s smart and disciplined, plays tough D and comes from a winning program at Wisconsin that plays a style similar to NO under Monty. Hope Butch’s injury is minor.
Damn that sucks. He was one of our guys that I was most excited to see this year. Hopefully it’s nothing serious and he’ll be back before opening night.
I’m hearing that it was his right knee and will be 4-6 week rehab. It’s not the same knee that he had surgery on last year which is probably good news for him. Should be interesting to see what the Hornets decide to do.
Can anyone confirm if Jon is correct?
I may be wrong on the knee. Only caught glimpse as he walked out.
I’ll hear something official soon.
I am 99.9% confident
