In the NO Podcast Episode 43: Trading Chris Paul for an X-mas Package

Yeah. Michael tries to talk about boring crap like TJ Ford and Chuck Hayes, but I put his nose to the grindstone and get talking about when the Hornets trade Chris Paul and what sort of surprise package we can expect for him. I’m hoping for a Lego Castle set. Those things are cool.

  1. The chubby Gasol just could be the number two center in the league. I really don’t get all the rondo hate, he is a truly unique player especially in relation to his peers. Who hates a guy who plays with one arm , schwan( I think ) has no love for the mystic aspects of the game.

When Kobe was right there for the taking………

  2. Did it cut off early for anyone else just as Michael began talking about the Bulls’ opportunity to sign Kobe in the past?

  3. Trade Paul to the Lakers for Bynum and Odom, sign Carl Landry, Crawford or preferably MT5, and Stuckey. Resign Aaron Gray and Beli.

    PG – Stucky, JJ Jack
SF – Carl Landry, Ariza, Q-Pon
    PF – Odom/Mek
    C – Bynum, Gray
SG – Jamal or MT5, Beli
Would this work? I really like Bynum as center unlike some people and i think this would be a pretty good team please comment

  4. Apparently GSW are trying to get us to take Monta Ellis and some other players, they are unwilling to trade away curry.

  5. This situation is not looking good for the Hornets. CP has basically put the Hornets in a corner. By refusing to sign long term with any other team, he has made himself un-tradeable. Also, his agent is probably pushing for him to go to NY. Therefore, any offers we get for CP that are not from NY will be extremely watered down because those teams know that CP will be a rental. The Hornets will refuse any watered down offers, which means CP will be on the Hornets roster until he WALKS AS A F’ING FREE AGENT! Thus, the Hornets will not get anything in return for him. Looks like Demps has been “played” by the rest of the league. Teams know they can get CP in free agency without losing any of their quality players!!!!!!!!! This sucks for NOLA!!!! Should’ve kept Collison and Thornton.

  6. We might not get Rondo but we could be getting collison back in a 3way trade with Celtics,Pacers and Hornets

Hornets Get Darren Collison,Bradon Rush,Tyler Hansbrough and posiable Danny Granger

    Pacers get Rondo

    Celtics get CP3

    • why not take those other guys out and just receive DC universe,D.Grang, but the hornets & Celtics would’ve gave up more. and besides the best trades are the ones where everybody benefits!!!!!

  7. But i also have a feeling that Okafor and Ariza will be going to the Pacers and Jermaine O’neal either to the Hornets or Pacers to make that possiable trade complete

  8. This is why we shouldn’t have traded MT5 or DC because I know the front office had to see this coming and they traded their two best assets.

  9. Rondo is straight nasty, and anybody that doesn’t realize that doesn’t watch basketball. I agree with the podcast: he doesn’t score big numbers, but he does a lot of SICK s#@t on the basketball court. People in New Orleans would love Rondo if they watched him on a regular basis.

  10. maybe this turns out like how the lakers saved kobe? right? *grins*

rewind circa 200708 kobe requests a trade, bulls back out, lakers get gasol, and go on to win a 2 peat..

fastforward to 2011, Hornets get 10K STH, new lease, new owner, Warriors and Clippers back out, Hornets miraculously get a great team (Josh Smith from Hawks for Oak, sign Nene and JRich) then we get all the way to Western Conference Finals, only to lose to OKC in game 7. FA comes and Paul signs extension, and then wham!!

offcourse i’m day dreaming, so wth. let’s go 10K STH! 😀

  11. Let’s just cross our fingers that Tyson wants to meet up with Paul in GS as much as Paul would like to go there.
The starting 5 for GSW looks scary then.
    Paul – Ellis – Wright – Lee – Chandler
Ellis would need to get used to playing off the ball but being able to find ellis or wright on the wings means 3’s galore.
I also think we could build around Curry. We could also probably wrestle Derrick Williams away from Minnesota to get 2 budding stars to build towards the future.
And just think if we could get Thompson from GSW too.
    Get it done Demps.

    • Admittedly I may be missing some kind of NBA sorcery, but how in the world do the Knicks clear Billups’ 14M off their books while taking nothing back (amnesty not withstanding) and sign Chandler (looking for a max deal) AND take on Paul’s 16M when they’re already over the cap and have no bench?

  12. @Zombian the Mavs are not going to do the sign & trade Chandler and get Billups in return they’re stalled for now.Even if the Knicks do it for Paul and give us Amare which i doubt the Knicks are going to wait til next year.Theres two thing could happen by tomorrow Paul to the Celtics for Rondo or Paul to the Warriors for Ellis and later that day the Hornets sign Rodney Stuckey maybe if the Hornets if they go forward with the Warriors trade for Eills who is a SG.

    • but the trade wouldn’t sense why on earth would they trade a high scoring SG for a superstar PG and they already have a uprising star PG. they might as well should trade him instead, and the only way we get both of them is if a 3-team trade is involved!!!

  13. But the Hornets could be in a 3way trade with Lakers,Rockets and Hornets

Hornets get Kelvin Martin,Luis Scola and draft picks

    Rockets get Paul Gasol

    Lakers get CP3

    • As a Hornets fan, this is getting uglier and uglier for us. As much as I hate to say it, I say we hold on to CP3 until teams get serious. The league thinks we are in a Trade NOW mentality, so we are getting low balled as a result. Eventually the Knicks gave in to Denvers demands for Melo. GS is now out of the running with Chandler burning them for NY. I strongly dislike the LAL/HOU trade because it gives us two BIG contracts and is more of a lateral move. The only difference is we no longer have a SUPERSTAR or a face of the franchise. It’s beginning to look grim my friends. Hopefully, we stay patient and get a solid offer. We already know we aren’t contending this year. So, we have nothing to lose by waiting it out and holding on to him until the deadline if need be.

  14. My biggest fear is that we re sign DWEST. I want no part of that. Unless he comes back on the MLE(which he won’t) then we should let him walk.
