Hornets247 Watch Party

It’s time for us to have a watch party. It’s been a long time coming, but with the Save Our Hornets Foundation in full swing and the team off to one of it’s best starts ever, it’s important that us Hornets fans get together and have a good old time.

The Details (RSVP and invite your friends on Facebook, please!) This is how you do it really fast

Who: All of you lovely people, of course!

What: The First Hornets247 Watch Party of the year to benefit the Save Our Hornets foundation. Yes, people getting together watching games on TV is good for us all.

…is in it for you: Free beer, drink specials, cool prizes (including tickets), fun contests, a chance to meet all your fellow Hornets fans, some Hornets reps, and maybe some other Hornets personnel. And you get to watch what should be a good game against those three guys who play on Miami. I think their names are Larry, Moe and Curly, but I could be mistaken.

Where: Extreme Sports Bar and Grille at 535 Tchoupitoulas. I used to live in the Warehouse District, and I probably still would if this place had opened up a few years ago. It’s a new sports bar with air hockey, pool, foosball, a boxing game, and a ton of TV’s and projectors to show our New Orleans Hornets. Good wings, too. I spent some time in upstate NY, so I know a good wing when I eat one. Definitely worth checking out, even if you can’t make the party.

When: Monday, December 13th from 5:00 to 10:00pm. The game starts at 6:30, but I’ll be there at 5:00 if anyone wants to come by a little earlier to start talking Hornets. There could be some interesting things said early on.

Why: Because we need to get this party started. The Hornets are playing great, yet they are almost dead last in attendance. There are rumors that the state and the team will come to a new lease agreement (which they haven’t started talking about yet), but who knows what that will mean. Fact is we need to get attendance up, and we can do that by increasing the exposure that the Hornets have in the local community.

So please come and join us for the first watch party of the year. It’s really important that we pack the house and build momentum going forward. Sorry again about the short notice, but a while ago I predicted a watch party in early December (the 13th is early in my book) and I didn’t want to disappoint.

If anyone would like to help out a little with things, please just get there a little early and let me know.

  1. It will take a lot more than a “watch party” to remove years of bad mistakes, empty seats and being in one of the most impoverished and crime ridden cities in the United States.

    • jtshoops, its no secret u dont want the hornets here. we may or may not be able to keep the hornets here. that remains to be seen. i want to guarantee u something though. whether we lose the hornets or not, we WILL NOT go down without a fight. we arent quitters here and we dont give up. im gonna be on a cruise for the party but if i was in town i’d go. People here dont just quit like you think we should. we didnt quit on the saints and we wont quit on the hornets.

  2. We should have one per month.

Oh, Joe, Niall used to do crazy contests at these parties, and some wacky giveaway. You could prolly email him for some of his ideas.

I say the contest winner this time wins a 9-Iron and a chance to lock himself (or herself) in a room with mr. Hoopsblog for 10 minutes. I know I’d love to sign up for that.

    • Yes, sir. If this is successful we’re going to make this a very regular thing, probably at this bar. I have a bunch of stuff to give away (one event will be the hardest punch contest since they have a boxing thing).

If you have any real ideas, let me know.

    • hey mikey, i read your journal post and think its a great idea. i wonder how we could make that happen. anyways, good idea and keep em coming. we are gonna have to get creative with some of the not so exciting games on our schedule.

  3. I would love to go, but I live out in Maurepas in Livinston Parish and just can’t drive all the way out to NOLA and back and still be ready to go to work the next morning. 🙁

Now if it was on a Friday, Saturday, or before dark on Sunday I would definitely make it. The 17th is both a Friday and my birthday, so I am currently seeing how many of my friends I can bring with me to the game as a birthday present to myself.

    • Cool stuff about your birthday. Sorry it’s not on a weekend/friday, but I promise the next one will be. I just wanted to get one under our belts before this year ends. Plus, SOH needs some more exposure right off the bat.

  4. I shall be there with bells on my heels! Another place for a possible watch party is the District, which is just up the street on Tchoup. They’ve got some huge TVs, and I can put you guys in touch with the manager if you want…

    • Oddly enough, I was actually on my way there when I saw this place. That seems to be a little bigger. Let’s pack this place so that we HAVE to move to a bigger venue.

      • It was in the Bee-mail sent today:

“WATCH PARTY AT LACARRETA’S MONDAY – HORNETS @ HEAT
Hornets in MIA Mon, Dec. 13 to take on Heat for the second time this regular season

The Hornets will face LeBron, Bosh and Wade for the second time this season (third time including preseason season), but this time in Miami. The Bees won both their preseason and first regular season game against the Heat and they plan to prove they can do it again!

Watch the game live while cheering on with other Hornets fans at our official Watch Party at LaCarreta’s in Mandeville (1200 West Causeway Approach) beginning at 6pm, tip-off at 6:30pm. The party will be hosted by Hornets MC Rob Nice with appearances by Hugo, the Honeybees and McDonald’s Buzz Patrol, plus Hornets games and giveaways are planned throughout the night!

LaCarreta’s drink special for game night: $2.00 Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob Ultra Longnecks

We hope to see you at LaCarreta’s Monday. GEAUX HORNETS!”

I can’t make it to either one of them since I live out of the city 🙁

      • Nevermind, I just noticed the location of the Hornets party and realized that there is no conflict what-so-ever. /duh

      • phew!

That’s on the other side of the lake. They do that because 95% of people that live on that side of the lake can’t watch the Hornets at their homes.

  5. Unfortunately my bank account isn’t that big but I would’ve loved to of come to support the team. Sounds like a great idea, maybe some pictures are in order as well to put up on Save Our Hornets site just to show there are people out there actually doing something.

    • There’s a good chance (and I mean it’s like 90%) that we will broadcast the event live over the internet so that everyone elsewhere can watch with us.

I’m sure people will be taking pictures, so I’ll be sure to get a few and post them.
