After weeks of being lambasted for not doing anything, Jeff Bower continues his flurry of moves.  ESPN is reporting that the Hornets are close to signing Ike Diogu.

Ike Diogu

Initial thoughts:  He’s better than anything we’ve got behind David West and Emeka Okafor.  Though he’s gotten very little playing time, he’s one of those players who stat-geeks love because of how much he produces in the little time he’s on the floor.

I’m not sure he’ll be a viable backup at the center position, since he is undersized, but as a backup to David West, absorbing 12 minutes a game, he could be invaluable.

If the Hornets sign Joe Smith next to a minimum deal, or even sign Sean Marks back, I’m going to be walking around with a big dumb grin on my face.

It’s good to see these moves happen.
