Game On: Hornets @ Clippers

Al ThorntonOur depleted Hornets came away with a gutsy win in Sacramento last night, and they’ll have to dig deep again tonight to beat the Clippers in Los Angeles.

After hurting his ankle and playing through the pain in Sacto, David West will likely sit this one out, joining Tyson Chandler, Peja Stojakovic and James Posey in the nurse’s office. Yeah, that’s three starters and a key reserve unable to play.

Thankfully, the Clips are woeful, as you might guess from their 18-56 record. They’ve lost five of their last six and have just two victories against winning teams since the new year. Baron Davis (calf/ulcer) has missed the past two games but is expected to return for this one, while Marcus Camby (ankle) will sit it out (source).

The Hornets have defeated the Clippers twice already this season, 99-87 in November and 107-80 in January. Zach Randolph didn’t play in either of those games.

Action tips at 9:30 p.m. Central. Other games to keep an eye on this eve (all times Central): Heat @ Mavericks (7:30), Rockets @ Suns (9:00 on ESPN – watch it live online). A Rockets loss coupled with a Hornets win would put us within a half game of them. Full standings here.
