Version 4.0: Just the beginning

Hey random people. I've been around this site for a while but this is the first time I've actually posted something. I'm not Ron. I'm Niall Doherty. I was busy doing the redesign and coding stuff for the new site while Ron was busy not blogging.

Anyways, Mr. Hitley went over a few things about the new site yesterday, and I'm here to add a little to that and let you know what we have planned for Hornets247.com in the future.

First of all, I must say a huge thanks to Pat Ashe, who helped out a lot with the new site. Anytime I hit a brick wall, he was good enough to help me over it. He's also responsible for some of the better designed parts of the site, such as the main logo. (Is it just me, or does that look better than the real Hornets logo?)

So, thanks Pat.

Next, I need to ask for more help. Yours.

The site is very much in beta mode, which means that we're testing as we go here. Any feedback you have about the new stuff is appreciated, particularly if you're viewing the site on a Mac. Our non-existent budget prevented us from testing anything in Safari.

There's sure to be bugs found when exploring the site with other browsers too. Let me know about those. If you're using Internet Explorer, you won't be getting the best this site has to offer, because in case you weren't aware, Internet Explorer sucks major balls. Seriously, move out of the cave and get Firefox. Or Opera. Anything but Internet Explorer. Trust me.

Ron mentioned the RSS feeds already. I'll have a post up later about using those.

There's a whole lot more that I have planned for the site that I couldn't get done for the launch, but believe me when I say that what you see today is just the tip of the iceberg. We're truly aiming for this site to be your number one source for everything Hornets, and we'll keep working until we're there. I realise we have a ways to go.

I don't want to give too much away, but I can say that there is an extensive stats section in the works, and we intend to make the whole site much more interactive so there's more to read than just Ron's drivel. (Kidding, Ron!) The visual side of things still has a long way to go, too. In a few months, you should be able to have this site looking the way you want it.

As for the next few weeks, you can expect to see a search thingy and a scoreboard/calendar combo thingy in time for the new season.

Anyway, I know you didn't come here to read my ramblings, so I'll wrap this up.

Once again, we're making this site for you guys, so we'd love to know what you think of it. Criticisms, suggestions, praise, hate mail, etc; All is welcome and we'll take it all into consideration. Just let us know. You can contact us via the about page, or simply by leaving a comment below.

Cheers.
