In the NO Podcast Ep 202: No Jrue, No Problem

Michael and I break down the 4-game win streak and what it means now that Jrue isn’t playing. We talk the uptick in Gordon’s numbers, how Anthony is taking more shots now, and address the idea of Jrue going to the bench. We also talk Nate Wolters, whether Gordon may play basketball as a Pelican for years to come, and if we think Dante and Quincy are the answer on the wing moving forward.

  1. Agree about Stoudemire for MLE for 2 reasons: 1. W/ Ryno’s inconsistency on O and weak D, we need a traditional 4 to play beside AD at key moments; right now the only choices are Ajinca & DC; 2. Amare may have the NBA’s best footwork in the low post, maybe ever – a true marvel – all the jabs and reverses on the low block that AD lacks for now. Hard to fathom just how many fouls AD would draw with just a bit of Stoudemire’s low post footwork. In other words, the ideal mentor for AD’s offensive game.

  2. Amare as backup C?
And aren’t the Green triplets available for that small forward spot?
    Danny,Gerald n Draymond
Also Demarre. Corey brewer? Wesley Johnson…..Tobias Harris
You guys don’t like those options?
I also would probably look for backup C n Pg positions like you said….but totally not against a splashy move this offseason….and I consider signing any of those SFs a “splashy” move…minus Wesley.

  3. mvpmb10 Danny Green and Draymond G will get double what we have to offer or more. Gerald Green is a nice option, but might be out of our price range too and Harris definitely can’t be had for the MLE. Corey Brewer isn’t a big enough upgrade, and Demarre would be ideal but again might be out of our price range, only having the MLE.
My point was that if we couldn’t get a clear upgrade at SF (Green’s, Demarre) then it might be better to go after a G or C as opposed to a marginal upgrade like Corey Brewer or Wesley Johnson with the MLE

  4. Haha….I love Corey brewer!!!!! But I guess im the only one on that bandwagon.
Asik’s 9 mil comes off the books…doesn’t that give around 15 mil to use? With all the other contracts ending?
So im guessing Asik is a must resign in your books.
I was n still is a supporter of the Asik trade…because of what he brought in bulk next to Davis n flexibility. .with expensive expiring contract…makes this offseason way more manageable.
2 big expiring deals in Gordon n Anderson.
And about 15 mil to use on free agency…with main core intact for continuity.
I like the team in place…and if the pels resign Asik….im definitely not against it…because of what he brings….but I guess i just wouldn’t be rushing to resign him as a must have…let him sweat a lil bit…see what the options are.
But of course. ..all this is determined on how they finish up the year….Alot can change til then
