In the NO Podcast Episode 186: James Ham on the Kingly Pelicans

By:
Published: July 21, 2014

Cowbell Kingdom’s James Ham joins us to talk about the new former Kings the Pelicans have imported: John Salmons, Jimmer Fredette, Omri Casspi – and of course, we can’t avoid talking Tyreke Evans too. Then Michael and I talk about rotations, Darius Miller returning to the team, and who the most irreplaceable Pelican is this year. Michael is wrong, as usual.

Thanks to James for joining us!  Enjoy the Podcast!

Really enjoyed James Ham. Main problem with starting Tyreke is on O: He needs to dominate the ball to be effective there & that’s not going to happen with EJ active the 1st 7 mins. Tyreke will play much better with either Jrue or EJ on bench. Ideally we move EJ eventually (since it eems unlikely that we’ll ever use him as 6th man) and then start Tyreke @ the 2 and play extra mins at the 1. I believe we are better off patching the 3 with Salmons, Miller & Babbitt, and possibly using Ryno as a finishing 3. I just don’t see Jrue & EJ comfortable for large minutes with Tyreke doing so much ball-handling.

Get James back on the podcast during the season to analyze how the NOLA Kings have fared.
He obviously knows his stuff and was humorous.  Great podcast!

Monty needs to tell EJ he’s coming off the bench.  I don’t care if it pisses him off.  It’ll make him look better playing against a 2nd string and may end up opening trade possibilities.
If we trade him to Milwaukee/Minnesota/Philly I GAAAROOONTEEEE he opts out.

Ya’ll are going to like having Jimmer on your team. He seems to improve steadily year to year.

6thMan I think you mean EG..right ?…….Jrue and Tyreke could play together…just reverse roles on Offense at times….Jrue is IMO is a converted SG who has PG skills……Tyreke would allow Jrue to spot up and shoot more

Jimmer = Poor Man’s Gordon. Undersized SG that doesn’t rebound but can create his own shot…  IMO Jimmer is knee insurance for Eric Gordon when EG misses 20-30 games this year.

Tyreke is a better passer, and has better court vision than what people give him credit for.  He was fantastic on drive and kicks to Morrow, and this year should be no different with he, Anderson, and Fredette on the second team, especially now that Brian Roberts is no longer there to keep the ball out of his hands.
