The Asik trade is finally done after a string of moves by Dell Demps, so Michael and I deliver grades? Who did the team have to let go? Who did they keep the rights to? Is there a small forward on the team? Are the Pelicans looking for a “Starting Small Forward” or a “7th Man”?

Then we also talk the first two games of summer league! Yeah, that’s right, basketball is being played! Young is fun, Russ is crazy, and Courtney Fells is Morrow 2.0?

Enjoy the Podcast!

Backcourt: Holiday-Evans-Gordon-Rivers-Smith
Frontcourt: Davis-Ömer-Anderson-Withey-Ajinca-Casspi

Possible(or definite?) addition: Patric Young

Looks like our roster is now very established for PG, SG, PF and C positions.

Holiday-Gordon-Evans is a strong guard trio and Davis-Anderson-Ömer is a strong PF-C trio. Yes, Evans can play SF but still he is better at SG position.

Yes, We can look at our starting SF as the 7th man of our team. But, I believe that the 7th man is a key member of the team. Why? Because, as Demps himself said before, OKC is the team to beat in the Western conference. And to stop OKC means stopping Kevin Durant. Well, that means that 7th man should better be a good defender. :)

Demps has ended the search for a Center. The last piece of the puzzle is the SF. I wonder when Chessmaster/Dealer Dell will complete the puzzle with that piece.

Gordon/Evans are the highest paid players on the team and they are owed a little above 26 mil this season and next season. I expect the puzzle to be completed once Gordon is gone and replaced by our starting SF.

I expect our team to have a decent/solid/strong Small Forward rather than the ongoing  stop-gap SF project due to immoveable contract of Eric Gordon.

Does Michael Beasley make any sense 4 this pelican team. Monty has away been getting the best out of underachieving players. What r your thoughts Why was he left off your list of sf? Salary was around $950000. If not mistaken. Thanks

Last year looking at the roster I remember thinking that Dell at least had to consider an Anderson/ Asik swap. The fact that he snatched Asik without surrendering anybody who could even remotely be a factor means that Dell gets an A+ for the offseason so far. The next podcast, when the roster settles in a bit more, I hope you guys talk some about the insane division we're in and what that means for this team to take the next step with so many games against this level of competition. Thinking about just the front court talent, head to head, game after game: Davis/ Asik, Howard, Duncan, Gasol/ Randolph, Chandler/ Dirk. Hands down, the Southwest has got to be the NBA's Group of Death. It's going to be beautiful.
