The New Orleans Hornets host the Atlanta Hawks tonight for the first and only time of the year tonight at 6:00 ET.

Al-Farouq Aminu is expected to play some four in smaller lineups going forward.

The Hornets host the Hawks tonight in a rare 6:00 game in New Orleans. The Hornets are coming off a much-deserved blowout win against the Magic on Wednesday, while the Hawks beat the Pistons that same night. Jeff Teague, who was listed as questionable earlier in the day, will play. Coach Larry Drew will play him as much as the ankle allows.

Hawks coach Larry Drew said that the Hornets “are a different ball club [than when they had Paul] but I think they are just as dangerous”. I would like some of what he’s smoking.

Drew went on to say later that the Hawks need to treat the Hornets with the same respect they showed for the Pistons and that they can’t come out expecting to have a win handed to them.

Monty was asked what the team needs, in a general sense. He started off by saying “1. Eric Gordon”. He went on to identify (among other things) a big man who can block shots, stretch the floor with a his shot, and be able to play with Emeka. Good luck there, coach.

He also said that he expects to use some smaller lineups, utilizing Aminu and Ariza at the four on occasion.

The Hornets have yet to win without holding their opponent under 90 points. Against Orlando, they held the Magic to under 20 points in every quarter, the first time they’ve done that since they played Atlanta on 1/21/11.

So far, the Hornets have played the hardest schedule in the league. Their opposition has a .587 winning perfentage. It won’t get any easier since Atlanta (14-6) and Miami (15-5) are the two teams next up on the schedule.
