3-on-3: Previewing Hawks @ Hornets

The New Orleans Hornets take on the Hawks tonight at the arena. This will in all likelihood mark the last time we ever think of the attendance mandate.

On the left you can see Morris Bart face-to-face with will Ferrell. Jason Sudeikis is the fellow in the black hat. On the right, you can see a Hornet in it's only habitat in New Orleans.

1. Which matchup most favors the Hawks?

Chris Trew: The Atlanta fan base might be a little more fired up for the Hawks considering they gave up on their football team pretty early this season. I know that tonight’s game is in New Orleans so this doesn’t really matter but man, do you remember the pounding the Saints put on the Falcons? I do.

Jake Madison:  I know Belinelli had a solid game against the Magic, but I’m not a believer in him so the Hawks have an advantage at shooting guard. Joe Johnson can be a beast offensively and they do have the Willie Green backing him up. Actually, this matchup favors the Hornets if Green sees extended playing time.

Ryan Schwan:  Power Forward.  Josh Smith is an excellent all-around player even if he does take too many stupid long jumpers.  Landry and Jason Smith are both only good at one thing – scoring.  They may match Josh Smith in that department, but not really anywhere else.

2. Which matchup most favors the Hornets?

Chris: Chris Paul is long gone and we’re all mostly okay with it, but I still believe that we can hang that 2005 draft over Atlanta’s head for a real long time. So I’ll say the matchup that most favors the Hornets is everyone knowing how much more successful New Orleans is as a sports city.

Jake: Point guard. Jarrett Jack might be having his best season yet and he’ll continue that level of play tonight. Jack is assisting on 36% of the Hornets’ shots and has stepped up and become the Hornets’ go-to guy in crunch time. This game will be close and I expect Jack will be the difference maker for the Hornets.

Ryan: Chris Paul is clearly a better draft pick than Marvin Williams and should simply DOMINATE the Hawks.  Oh, wait . . . how am I supposed to get digs at the Atlanta fan base now?

3. Care to make some predictions about the game?

Chris: Hornets lose a close one (which is actually a win for the 2012-2013 Hornets), Atlanta enjoys a night at Harrah’s, I enjoy mocking the Atlanta Falcons and Chris Jericho wins the Royal Rumble.

Jake: I smell a two game winning streak coming on, and it smells as good as bbq from The Joint!

Ryan: This game will be a slug fest, and the Hornets will take a lead into the half.  They will surrender that as the defense tightens and the Hawks get serious in the second half.
