There is basketball related stuff happening today! True, it’s only cheerleader auditions, but at least it’s the finals, right? If you’re interested in attending, then you’re in luck– the auditions are open to the public. The event starts at 3pm at the House of Blues, and there are drink specials and whatnot.

Our very own Andrew Smith attended the first round of auditions, which was closed to the public. He compiled this video so you can get caught up on the cheerleading action before you hit the finals this afternoon.

Full details of the event are after the jump.

Honeybees Finals presented by Crystal Hot Sauce will take place Sunday, July 24 at 3:00 p.m. at the House of Blues in the French Quarter. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.

Finals are free and open to the public, and we encourage all fans to cheer on the 34 finalists as they compete for a spot on the 2011-2012 Honeybees squad.  The event will feature entertainment including a special performance from DJ Jermaine Quiz featuring saxophonist James Martin and two exciting performances from the finalists.  Drink specials will include a Hornets cocktail, the Blue Stinger, for $5, as well as Miller High Life bottles for $3.

The 34 finalists were selected out of the 93 hopefuls who auditioned at the preliminary auditions on July 16. Out of the 34 remaining, the Hornets are looking to select around 20 women to make up the 2011-2012 Honeybees Dance Team. The Finalists completed three workshop days which included choreography sessions, individual interviews, video and photo shoots and a fitness boot camp.
